Christmas 2022 on a budget – A gift guide

[ad_1]

With the media constantly bombarding us with horror stories about how tough it’s going to be this winter, thousands of families across the country are thinking about how to pinch as many pennies as possible this Christmas.

Of course, we want to give our loved ones something special, but we might not have the funds available to splash out on a new watch, necklace or games console this year. With that in mind, here are a few potential gifts to consider if you’re cutting back this year that won’t leave anyone feeling like they got a lump of coal in their stocking.

A streaming subscription

Long gone are the days when you’d consider buying someone a DVD for Christmas. Everything now is available at the tap of a screen and in super high definition. But not everyone has access to these incredible streaming services like Netflix and Disney +. So, why not offer an annual subscription as a present for your kids this year? Not only can you spread the cost and pay monthly but it’s something you can all enjoy together as a family.

Gaming and music accessories

Video games and consoles are not cheap these days. But chances are your kids will probably already have their console of choice and their games of choice anyway. So, spoil them instead with a pair of Bluetooth headphones or a new controller. Something cheaper than a brand-new game but something that will actually hold its value.

Smart speakers

While they might once have been thought of as luxury items, smart speakers such as the Google Home and Amazon Echo Dot are now surprisingly affordable and can offer endless fun and convenience. In fact, if you are lucky enough to grab one on a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale you might be able to bag two or three for the price of one. That’s lots of gifts sorted!

Graphic novels

You couldn’t possibly have missed the fact that the Marvel movies have become the biggest media franchise in the world over the last ten years. With this popularity has come a monumental boost in comic book sales as new fans look to the origins of their favourite superheroes. A good trade paperback graphic novel could be a great gift for a young Marvel fan.

Sweet treats and booze

It’s an oldie but a goodie. You can never go wrong with chocolate, and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. It doesn’t have to be something sweet either. Maybe there’s a member of your family that’s infatuated with spicy sauces? Or perhaps your dad has really gotten into craft beers lately? Invest in their indulgences this Christmas and they are unlikely to complain.
